K.J. Ross Ceramics believes the meaning of beautiful ceramic objects resides in the making process. Using simple forms in her creations allows for accessibility and familiarity. Surface design is created by the unpredictable firing and glazing processes that allows fate to make each piece unique.
Stratified Finger Pots - Clay is an incredibly responsive and versatile material. These pieces were inspired by the Hoodoo landscape of southern Alberta. The surface is created by repetitively layering coils and marking them to create a sense of movement. They are Soda fired.
Wall Plates - These glazed ceramic wall plates are inspired by the infinite colours and textures of landscape. They can be displayed anywhere and are well suited for hanging in humid places where paper, and canvas works may not fair so well.
