Ivano Stocco's work bridges the precision of engineering with the organic rhythms of nature. Every piece starts as a quick, gestural sketch, is then translated into CAD models for precise scaling, adjustment, and digital slicing.
In his workshop, Ivano bring those virtual plans back into the physical world by tracing and cutting sections from the highest-grade birch plywood, then stacking and gluing them into a rigid, stepped block. Sometimes local hardwoods serve as accents. Then comes the most time-consuming, labour-intensive part: manually carving and sanding the wood into a fluid object. The overall process transforms a flat industrial material into something suggesting snow drifts, waves, and local geology as much as mathematical functions.
Protected with varnish and routed with keyholes on the back, the sculptures hang flat on the wall and can be displayed in various orientations.
