Diana Hillman is a Canadian contemporary painter who is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, the Colour and Form Society and a founding member of Headwaters Arts. She was trained at the City and Guilds of London Art School, UK, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School and the Toronto School of Art.
Using delicate layers of oil paint, sometimes highlighted with chalk or pencil, Diana creates works that evoke strong feelings of connection to the land. Her Road Works and Flight Series explore liminal or transitional spaces: thresholds, where the land and water meet, where the Earth disappears at the horizon, where buildings and roads encroach on fields and forests. In liminal space you find yourself somewhere between departure and arrival - giving you the sense that something is about to begin.
