Catherine Harasymiw is a ceramics artist based out of Newmarket, Ontario. Utilizing the techniques of barrel firing and raku firing, she creates works deeply inspired by the earth and nature. Using materials like copper wire, horsehair, orange peels and coffee grounds, she brings unexpected colours to life on the surface of her pots. Her vases are created on the pottery wheel and their forms take inspiration from ancient history and classical shapes. Catherine is incredibly hands on throughout the whole process of creating her vases and as a result feels a deep connection to every piece.
