Amey Lai started painting full time in 2014 and has not looked back since. Her bold paintings command attention through their bright gestural use of colour, texture, and sense of luxuriousness. Amey won the People’s choice award at The Artist Project in 2014 and joined Petroff Gallery in 2015. Amey continues to refine her unique technique and we look forward to her growth.
“I try to construct drama and depth with the use of color and mixed media. I tend to use the color gold to add richness and warmth like the sun. It also illuminates and enhances other things around it. Nature plays a big role in my process and I try to find ways to reflect its properties like coating each painting with resin to resemble the cleansing and purity of water. Reflecting light and drawing the viewer closer to the painting.“
