Using photography, collage, and re-photography, Comber’s images combine representations of environments, objects and figures within illusory space bringing the real and the imagined into a shared frame. Her work frequently deals with the nature of photographs as both tactile and visual objects. Her hand cut interventions distort the relationship between printed images and representation of the environment to explore the formal chaos of wild things.
Original photographs are cut out, layered, and often re-photographed into a final composition. Comber is currently working in her Grey County studio exploring new approaches to large scale collage. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and is held in the permanent collections of both corporate and provincial institutions.
