Mike Smith Artist Weekend

Join us on Sunday August 7th from 12-5pm to watch painter Mike Smith working in the Gallery front window. Mike will be available to answer your questions and to tell you more about his artwork and technique. 

Inspired by the skies of Africa, the trees of Provence, and the farms of Ontario, Smith's work consists of a series of contemporary abstracted and stylized landscapes in charcoal and oil on canvas.  Colours are saturated, shapes flattened, contrast is exaggerated - the goal being to capture just some of the sense of time and space that exists outside of a city environment.

Involved with art for most of his life, Mike Smith was born in South Africa, and raised in Zimbabwe. He arrived in Canada in 1989. His work has been successfully shown in Galleries and numerous major juried fine art Festivals on both sides of the border, and can be found in private collections across Canada and the US.
