"Like man, each of my pieces are similar in shape, but unique in appearance.”
The distinct look and texture of Rock Richardson’s pewter sculptures are the result of a unique process that took 10 years to develop to manipulate and form hot pewter. Using the finest lead-free pewter, Rock makes each individual sculpture by hand, dripping the molten pewter into various molds and then manipulating the piece with flame, gravity and specially designed tools. Metals such as brass, copper and 24k gold are often incorporated to create visual contrast. His wife Michele then finishes each piece by hand.
Each piece starts off as a clay model from which a master mold is created using various mold-making techniques. Using this master mold, Rock creates his work “one drip at a time, one piece at a time, one customer at a time.” The result is a truly one of a kind sculpture, as individual as the person who owns it.
