June has been labelled ‘a glass colour addict’, a well deserved description of herself and much of her work. June layers and blends transparent colour with blown glass. Her results are wonderfully unpredictable because the glass transparency allows for the dimensional layering of colour. The effect of layering is essential to the subtle atmosphere June tries to create with her work. As important colour is to June's work, form is an equally essential element. June takes most of her inspiration from nature and the human body which, she believes, speaks an unspoken language.
Born in the heart of Florida, June pursued her education in Arts at the University of Central Florida. She later attended Valencia Community College where she was presented with a tuition grant and merit award for graphics.
She now resides in Canada where her introduction to working with stained glass allowed her first glimpse of how light and glass could perform magic. The glass department at the Sheridan School of Craft and Design provided her with an excellent outlet for her creativity.
