In 1982 after accepting a position working for one of the world's leading Carder- Steuben glass collectors, Thomas Kelly began his long and successful career working in glass. After a few years, Kelly chose to expand his knowledge of the medium by interning at several glass studios in New York City. Completely fascinated by the challenge of working with hot molten glass, Kelly worked under two different artists before he began blowing glass full time with Thomas Buechner at Vitrix Hot Glass Studio.

Founded in 1979, Vitrix Hot Glass was already established before Kelly, however, his addition to the team brought something new and fresh to this up and coming studio. Kelly spent the next ten years developing and defining his unique style at Vitrix Studios and became an integral part of all creative development when he took over ownership in 1996. Currently Vitrix Hot Glass is regarded among America's prominent contemporary glass studios, exhibiting work in galleries and museums internationally.

Thomas Kelly's creativity and great attention to detail has led him to produce a diverse range of works that always reflect a sense of unique craftsmanship. Allowing the fluidity of the glass to influence the elegant form of all his pieces and combining this with bold colours, his work truly is the perfect representation of today's finest contemporary glass. Hot glass challenges me constantly.

"I don't think I really control the molten glass, I just influence it; I am passionate about bringing the craft and design together to give each piece its own character"
