Tsunami Glassworks pushes the boundaries of contemporary art glass, providing innovative designs and quality craftsmanship. Tsunami Glass is owned and operated by husband and wife team Kriston Gene and Eva Milinkovic: it is Windsor, Ontario’s first and only glass blowing studio. Kriston Gene works primarily in hot glass, engaging in both blown vessels and sculptural glass pieces. He has a Psychology degree from the University of Windsor, and has worked as a teacher and assistant for the glass and welding programs at Sheridan College. Drawing from his academic background, Kriston strives to create works that are a metaphor of the human condition, and what drives our creativity and self expression. “My work is meant to strike a chord in its viewers, and to unify the observer with the artist on a visceral level in which an unconscious empathetic relationship is engaged.” Eva Milinkovic is a glass artist who draws her inspiration from both science and nature. Using organic fluid forms to communicate her ideas, her work reflects her interest in creative design. Eva’s reputation as a glass artist has been featured in magazines internationally, including recognition in Germany, England, the United States and Canada. Eva claims the motivation for her art is derived from “the honesty of architecture, the cleanliness of industrial design and the possibilities of science.” Select Exhibitions 2008 Tsunami Glassworks with Kyle Stewart, Petroff Gallery SOUTH, Toronto, ON 12th Annual Canadian Glass Show, West End Gallery, Victoria, BC 2007 Window of Opportunity with Kyle Stewart, Petroff Gallery, Toronto, ON 2006 International Contemporary Furniture Fair- Tsunami Glassworks, New York, NY Interior Design Show- Tsunami Glassworks, National Trade Centre, Toronto, ON Buyers Market of American Craft- Tsunami Glassworks, Philadelphia, PA 2005 100% Design - Eva Milinkovic for Tsunami Glassworks (as part of the New Design Canada Exhibition) London, England Incalmo- Eva Milinkovic and Kriston Gene, Marten Arts Gallery, Bayfield, ON Buyers Market of American Craft- Tsunami Glassworks, Philadelphia, PA Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibiton- Tsunami Glassworks, Nathan Phillips Square Toronto, ON The Object and the Image- Eva Milinkovic, Harbourfront Centre, Toronto, ON 2004 One of a Kind Show and Sale- Tsunami Glassworks, National Trade Centre, Toronto, ON Canadian Glass- Eva Milinkovic, The Guild Shop, Toronto, ON Form- Eva Milinkovic, Distill Gallery, Toronto, ON Collaborations: A Glass Exhibition- Eva Milinkovic, Lafreniere and Pai, Ottawa, ON Awards 2006 Exhibition Assistance Grant- Eva Milinkovic, Ontario Arts Council 2005 Pottery Supply House Grant- Eva Milinkovic, Ontario Crafts Council Emerging Professional Grant- Kriston Gene, Ontario Crafts Council Volunteer Committee 2004 New Artisan Scholarship- Tsunami Glassworks, One of a Kind Show Honorable Mention for Best Booth Design- Tsunami Glassworks, One of a Kind Show 2003 Exhibition Assistance Grant- Eva Milinkovic, Ontario Crafts Council Honorable Mention for Best in Glass- Tsunami Glassworks, Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
