Gordon Harrison

Although his paintings are most often compared to that of the legendary Group of Seven, Gordon Harrison has established his own individual style that he describes as ‘Impressionism-Realism.’ “I refer to my art as ‘Impressionism-Realism’: my brush strokes are broad, loose and intense, yet my subject matter remains clear.”

Gordon became interested in art and painting at an early age.  Passionate about the natural world, he attended the University of Toronto where he studied landscape architecture.  His painting techniques, mainly self taught, were supported by his studies at the Ottawa School of Art.  Inspired by the colours of the Canadian landscape, Gordon shares his experiences of the Canadian wilderness and love for nature in his colorful works.  His works evoke nostalgia in his viewers, a sense of comfort and pleasure for the sight of a familiar landscape.

“Having my work exhibited in my own Gallery, at the McMichael Canadian Art Gallery, in International Art Fairs as well as other fine art galleries across Canada is an honour. Knowing that my work is part of our Canadian culture and heritage and is viewed and collected across the world gives me a great feeling of accomplishment as a Canadian artist."
